This is the Emerging Leaders Program.

Emerging Leaders Program

Launched in 2011, the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a U of A student leadership program structured around a social change model of leadership. The ELP views leadership as a “purposeful, collaborative, values-based process that results in positive social change” (Komives et al., 2009, p. 50). The ELP is jointly planned and facilitated by student life professionals from across the University of Alberta and Students' Union.

In this program, students engage in a series of workshops on topics such as collaboration, conflict resolution, self-discovery, change and citizenship. Students who successfully complete the program can receive a non-credit certificate.

ELP is evolving in 2025-26!

For the current academic year, the Emerging Leaders Program is taking a new form! Two, single-day summit experiences will be held for students to gather, practice hands-on learning and meet with professionals. Attend both sessions, or join the summit themed closest to your interests.

Lunch will be provided during each session. Tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis.

If the cost of a ticket is prohibitive to you, please contact governance@uasu.ca to discuss options.
