Take Back the Night
January 22, 1:00 pm - 1:30 PM | Orion Room, Students' Union Building (SUB) Lower Level
Join us in a conversation with Katie Koestner! A trailblazer for sexual and gender based violence advocacy, Katie is the founder of Take Back The Night, a non-profit dedicated to ending sexual violence in all forms. Her work is pivotal to the conversation surrounding safety on campus, and inspired the UASU’s Take Back the Night march.
January 22, 6pm | SUB Stage, Students' Union Building (SUB)
The UASU invites you to join us for the Take Back the Night march on Thursday, January 22nd, at 6pm by SUB Stage. The march will be a call to action to the campus community, asserting that sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) has no place on our campus and demonstrating to survivors and those directly impacted by SGBV that they are not alone in this fight.
There will be sign-making materials available in the Orion Room on the lower level of SUB throughout the day and a bag check in the Alumni Lounge so attendees can leave their bags in a safe space for the duration of the march. Counselors and support staff will also be on-site to assist folks who may require additional support due to the potentially triggering nature of the content. There will be alternate routes in case of weather concerns, but attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. Before we head out for the march, VP Student Life Logan West will be making a small speech at SUB Stage and snacks and hot beverages will be available for attendees. We hope to see you and all your friends there!
Law School Musical
January 23rd and 24th, 6:30pm, Myer Horowitz Theatre, Students' Union Building (SUB)
Join the Faculty of Law for their annual theatrical production written, choreographed and composed entirely by law students. This year, they will be putting on Law School Musical, a law-themed parody of High School Musical. All proceeds from the Law Show, and their accompanying silent auction, will be donated to the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE), which supports those affected by sexual violence and works with communities to promote a culture of consent.
Immunology and Infection Students' Association's STI Awareness Committee

BSA: Breaking Cycles: Rethinking Normalized Violence in Black Homes
Last week of February, Online
This culturally grounded roundtable hosted by the Black Students' Association will explore how normalized forms of violence, such as spanking or “beatings," shape Black youth’s understanding of safety, love, and conflict. We will examine intergenerational patterns, cultural context, and strategies for supporting Black families in building non‑violent, healing-centred practices.
